In Remembrance

Rosaleen McEvoy - passed away July 5, 2021

It was with great sorrow the family of Rosaleen McEvoy announced her passing on July 5, 2021, after a short but mighty battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rosaleen was a founding member of the Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools Education Foundation (GSACSEF). She was active from the Foundation's humble beginnings in 2012, right up to her death in 2021. She served as Director & Vice-Chair.

Rosaleen was born in Bessbrook, Northern Ireland, in 1949 and emigrated to Canada with her husband, Clement, in 1974, settling in St. Albert, where together, they built a home and brought up their two children. Rosaleen pursued her dream of further education and earned two degrees from the University of Alberta. She served 12 years as a School Board Trustee for Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools and was an active volunteer in her community.  She will be sadly missed and remembered for her vibrant and passionate spirit.

Ed Kohel - passed away August 14, 2021

It was with heavy hearts, the family of Edward “Ed” Henry Kohel of St. Albert, Alberta announced his passing on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the age of 67 years.

Ed was a character who was larger than life itself. The life of every party, it was always a guarantee that the food was plentiful, the drinks were flowing, and opinions were voiced with a charisma and wit that could make you laugh, or even shake your head. Ed had a zest for life and was passionate about events for the Foundation.  

Ed was a Director & Chair for the Foundation from 2015 - 2020.  He initially joined the Foundation as the Member-at-Large for Morinville and then rose to Chairperson, Co-Chair, and Past Chair.  He will be sadly missed but remembered for his exuberance for life and generosity of spirit.
